wouldn't be fantastic if when twenty one pilots came off hiatus they did a collab with owl city

Zacharie sat on Sugar’s bed, silently watching the girl dance around her room to her favorite song; Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Judy Garland. “Look at you,” His thoughts started to stir, “Watching a pretty girl dancing around like a creep. You’re pathetic, you know that? You can’t even leave your best friend to her own fun. I can’t believe you’re this depressed now that you can’t even bare to be alone for-“ “Zacharie!” His thoughts were soon interrupted by her loud, enthusiastic voice. “Yeah, Sucre?” He snapped out of his daze, looking up at her “Do you want to learn to dance?” She asked in a persistent tone, kind of dragging out her sentence to make sure he understood. “I’ve never seen you dance before, so I’m just assuming you don’t know how.” She explained, placing her hands on her hips. “Oh, um, yeah, I don’t really know how to, uh..” before he could finish his sentence, she grabbed his hand and pulled him to his feet. “I’m gonna teach you then. Is a waltz okay for now? It’s better to learn more simple stuff before the harder things, just saying.” She clarified, taking his other hand. Zacharie, who was extremely glad he was wearing a mask, turned completely red in the face. He just nodded, stuck in a kind of stupor. “Good!” She smiled, letting go of his hands just long enough to rewind her music. She then pulled him close to her, placing her hands on his shoulders. “Now you just.. Well you actually have to put your hands in the right place, ya dumb.” She moved his hands onto her hips. His face only became a darker red, he nodded obediently. “Now just follow my actions.” She directed, starting to step into the rhythm of the music. He struggled to follow pretty much the entire time, but this could’ve been due to the way he was just enamored with her. He couldn’t stop himself as he watched every graceful and smooth movement she made, along with the glow of pure delight and bliss that eradiated from her. He barely fell back into reality when he song ended, and she came to a slow halt, pulling away from his loose hold. “Huh, you’re actually not that bad. That was fun!” She complemented, grinning. He rubbed the back of his head nervously, chuckling. “Yeah, it actually really was. We should dance more… later, I mean.” He corrected himself when he realized how strange the sentence sounded. “Anyways, I should probably get home before your dad gets back. He’ll flip if he just finds me hanging out with you without his knowledge, y’know?” He picked up his backpack, slipping it onto his shoulder. She sighed, “I guess you’re right, he’d probably eat you, or something crazy like that.” She giggled, hugging him tightly. “I’ll see you later. We’ll hang out again soon, right?” She asked, glancing up at him. He wrapped an arm around her, “Of course, Sucre.” She smiled and pulled away, “Good.” She replied simply, sitting on her bed. Zacharie then walked out to the rest of her house, using a special music box he had found to get back to Zone 2.

He had gotten a small apartment to live in, since he had recently started selling various wares as a job. He didn’t have much, just enough to live normally, but he was happy with it. He stepped into his room, slumping against the wall and pulling his mask off, his head stirring with confusing thoughts. “… Why was I so…” He searched for a word for a second, “Blushy. And why was Sucre all the sudden so.. pretty. And sweet. And seemingly perfect… wait.” It then dawned on him why he thought this, his face turning a dark shade of red. “I cannot- CAN. NOT- have a crush on Sucre. I am not going to let that happen. I will not let my dumb feelings ruin my friendship with her.” He told himself sternly, clenching a fistful of his shirt. He shook his head, trying to dismiss the infatuated thought. “I’m sure it’ll pass. It’s just a phase, after all. I’m sure plenty of guys get crushes on their female friends and they find someone else later.” He tried to convince himself, standing up. “I’ll just wait it out.” He decided, going over to his bed, putting his mask on the table, until he saw two white lumps of fur laying on his bed. He stared at them for a minute, trying his best to figure out what they were, to soon conclude that they were two fuzzy, white cats. He smiled a little bit, sitting on the bed and starting to pet the bigger cat. It then uncurled and stretched, opening its sharp-toothed grin to let out a yawn. “Ah, so there does happen to be a living being that takes care of this lieu, I thought it seemed quite tidy for no one taking up the space.” The feline inquired, “As I and my younger brother have already intruded into your small living establishment, I shall introduce myself. I am the Judge, or, skipping formalities, you can refer to me as Pablo. And this is my brother, Valerie.” Pablo explained, Zacharie just kind of stared in utter confusion. “I… Uh… I’m- I’m Zacharie. Nice to meet you and your brother…” He trailed off, still trying to make sense of the speaking cat, especially since it appeared to have a wider vocabulary than himself. He stood up, going to his closet, rustling around for a certain item. “I’m just gonna go on a walk for the moment, it’s been a bit of an eventful day.” He stated to the mischievous feline, pulling the large, shining sword out of the corner of the closet. “Going to go display that oh-so-enchanting weapon of yours to that lady I heard you blabbering so lovingly about not-so-long ago?” Pablo asked in an almost mocking tone, causing Zacharie’s face to turn pink. “Okay, Judge, first, I’m not going to go show my friend my sword, second, I don’t love her- well, I mean I kinda do, but in a platonic way. I’m her best friend. And third, I’m going to train with it.” He explained, his blush fading a bit. “So, you can be her prince charming, right? You obviously stated that you feel a strong romantic attachment to that female.” Deciding that he was outmatched by the cat’s argument right now, he let out a sigh. “Whatever. I’m going out, you two can stay here if you want, unless your brother is just a copy of you, ready to mock me.” He retorted, Pablo only retained the sharp, mocking grin. He shook his head, adjusting his mask, and with that he left the apartment.

It was a little bit later now, though he didn’t tire himself out at all since the start of his training. He lifted his sword, admiring the sharp blade that glistened in the light. He would’ve just started to walk back home if he hadn’t heard a familiar, female voice. But what caught his attention was that she sounded incredibly distressed. He somewhat sprinted to where he voice came from, only to come to a halt and hide himself.

“Let go of me, you idiot frogs!” Sugar snapped at the two guards that held her so tightly, “Sorry, but your little insults won’t do anything. Our king needs a nice little servant, and I’m sure you’ll make a perfect one~” She growled and tried to kick the guard in the gut, only making her stumble and lose her balance. Zacharie let out a deep growl, his grip tightening on the handle of his weapon. “Now, now. He doesn’t need a servant, he needs an heir. You’re high-strong and quick, and I’m sure the king will apricate that.” He needed an heir. Of course, he did. Zacharie felt a burning hatred in his chest and head, nothing like he had felt before. The guards drug Sugar into the small kingdom, Zacharie followed silently until he had reached the king’s throne room. He took a deep breath stepped out to the aisle, his sword brandished boldly. He stood in front of the king, he felt a certain nervousness in himself, but it was easily washed over by hate. “Greetings, wretched monarch,” He boomed, denying fear to enter his voice, “leave this land at once or perish at the tip of my blade.” He threatened, earning a loud boom of laughter from the toad. “I am your king and you are my subjects, you are not to go against my will.” He snarled, raising his large hand to hit Zacharie. He flinched, but forced himself to move before he was hit. He dug the sword into the toad’s arm, his yell of pain seemed to shake the walls. Before he could move one again he was slammed against the wall with a swift slap, he groaned in pain but picked up his sword once more, he drove the blade into the king’s chest, where his heart presumably was. He roared, grabbing Zacharie, gripping him in pure fury. “You’ve lost, Toad King. Give up.” He spat bitterly, starting to get a bit light-headed from his tight hold. “You idiot… you think you’re so brave, but what will happen without a king to rule?” He coughed, his grip loosening. “We’ll be better off.” He stated brashly, squirming out of the amphibian’s grasp. He yanked his sword out, watching him fall. He knelt, removing his mask so only the king could see his face, the creature gave him a malicious smile. “…So, you weren’t so weak after all.” Zacharie growled, spitting in the toad’s face before striking his blade into his large head, killing him in an instant. He pulled his mask back down, and walked back down the aisle, he felt the eyes of the many inhabitants staring in shock at him, but he didn’t care. All he cared about now was finding Sugar. It didn’t take long for him to scare away any guards that were in his path, so eventually he was directed from a terrified, young guard to a room where they had kept prisoners. He waltzed in, only to be tackled in a tight hug. He looked down at Sugar, she already had buried her face into his shoulder, she was practically trembling. He dropped his sword and hugged her tightly, “Are you okay? Did they hurt you in anyway?” He asked in worriedly, she simply shook her head, looking up at him. “What about you? I heard what happened with the king.. are you okay?” She questioned him, “I’m fine, Sucre-“She cut him off as she pulled down the collar of his shirt, revealing a wound that appeared to be deep. She gasped and let go of his shirt. “I’ll be fine. I promise.” He stated reassuringly, a bit taken back by the wound. “… Fine. But promise me you’ll never do something like that again.” She demanded sharply, resting her head against his unwounded shoulder. “You make me so worried sometimes, Zach. Sometimes you’re rational for a minute, the next you’re killing a king.” She mumbled, sighing. “I promise I’ll be more careful, if it really matters that much to you.” He promised, gently petting her head. They stayed in the hug for a minute, just enjoying each other’s comfort. Sugar eventually pulled back, grabbing his hand. “Let’s get that wound of yours fixed up.” She gave a sincere smile, “Sure thing, Sugar cube.” He felt his face heat up at what he had realized he’d said. Her cheeks turned pink, but she giggled sweetly. “Ooh, nicknames, huh? Alright then, Sweet-Meat~” She grinned, causing him to blush harder. He gently punched her shoulder, “S-Shut up.” He flustered, grabbing her arm softly, starting to drag her off away from the kingdom. She quietly giggled to herself, simply taking his hand in hers softly.

“…. You forgot your sword.”

After a few years of knowing Sugar, he had gotten into a school with her. Of course, this was because of Sugar’s talent of begging in the sweetest and cutest way possible to her father to enroll him. And after a few days of begging and bribing, she had convinced him. It was about their second year in school together, they were always quite talkative, as they had become very close in that time. But one silent, tranquil day, Sugar was much, much quieter. They just walked toward the amusement park (where Zacharie still resided,) not saying a single word. This worried Zacharie, as she had always been someone to start a fun conversation for virtually no reason, other than to occupy them for a short amount of time. He just absentmindedly stared at the ground, until he heard a quiet sniff come from the younger girl. He whipped his head towards her, his mask almost flying off his face. “What’s wrong?” He asked sincerely, though she didn’t look up. “It’s nothing.” She answered meekly, not daring to show her face. He gently grabbed her arm, making them both stop. “You’re awful about lying, Sucre. Why are you crying? Did someone hurt you?” He asked, his tone now fierce. “… A girl hit me in the hall because she said I was ‘trying to take her spotlight’. I knew that if I told you, you’d probably go start a brawl or something. I just.. I just didn’t want anyone getting hurt.” She explained, moving her hair away from her eyes, showing a dark bruise on her eye. He let out a small growl, only to follow it with a short sigh. “Sucre, you can’t just let yourself get hurt like that and not tell anyone… at least tell me, I can help a little bit, even if it’s not much… Just don’t stay quiet about it. It worries me. I don’t want to see you get hurt.” He mumbled, silently sighing once again. “Okay, Zach.. it’s nice to know you care that much. You’re really sweet.” She smiled at him, her white eyes showing contentment and.. something else, he couldn’t quite tell. “No problem, Sucre.” He lifted his mask to show a kind smile back at her. There was silence, until Zacharie decided to close the gap between them, embracing her softly. Her reaction was just a small gasp, but she immediately followed it by a tight hug, burying her face into his soft, worn t-shirt. And once again, the two were completely quiet. It wasn’t an awkward silence, or even an uncomfortable one. It was a comforting silence. The friends just stood there for almost a full minute, taking in the calm, reassuring feeling of the embrace. When they finally parted, they both seemed entirely content. “… I really needed that one. Thanks again, Zach.” She giggled, her hair falling back onto her face. “I’m hittin’ a lot of bullseyes today, I don’t know if that’s luck or not.” He pondered, causing her to giggle again. “I’m gonna say it’s a special little talent you got. You’re gonna be a real charmer when you grow up, you know?” She grinned, causing him to chuckle at the comment. “Yeah, sure I’ll be.” He rolled his eyes, even if she couldn’t see it. She lightly punched his arm, continuing to walk. “Not with that attitude, you won’t.” She countered, the male immediately started following her, “Glad you’re back to your normal self.”

After a few minutes of more pleasant conversation, they had arrived at the theme park. Zacharie was about to slip through the gate, until she felt a tight grip on his wrist. He looked at Sugar, quite confused, he opened his mouth to speak, but was quickly silenced by her question; “Why did you start wearing a mask? It’s not like you have a scar or something to hide, so… why?” she pressed him, tilting her head slightly. He bit his lip, trying to think of a good excuse. The truth was, he had gotten very, very self-conscious of his looks. It seemed strange, but he was. The poor thing didn’t like pretty much anything about his face, and even his weight. He hated it. He wore the mask to basically just hide himself away from everyone, even though he knew people who cared wouldn’t judge him on how he looked. “I.. uhm… I… I just.. I just like it. It makes less people know who I am. I guess I like being mysterious?” He stuttered out nervously, hoping she didn’t see though his quite obvious lie.

She let out a quiet sigh, she could tell he was bluffing, she might’ve not if he hadn’t hesitated so much and so nervously explained his reasoning. She released his thin wrist, clasping her hands behind her back. “Well, I guess it does make you kind of mysterious. But then everybody’s just gonna know you as the guy with the mask!” She stated, “Well, if I’m known as a guy with a mask, so be it, I guess. Sounds cooler than ‘Zacharie,’ doesn’t it? But a cooler title would be The Merchant, wouldn’t it?” he asked, a slight bit of admiration in his tone. “Yeah, it would. Maybe you’ll be a merchant when you’re older, then you’ll get called that all the time~!” She smiled, giggling. He smiled beneath his mask, chuckling. “Well, you oughta get going, your dad will have my head if I keep you too long.” He retorted, “Yeah, I know. I just wish we could hang out longer, you know?” She sighed, glancing at the ground. “I do too, but you know how it is. But hey, I’ll still see you tomorrow.” He slipped his mask up to give her a soft smile. “I’ll always be there, no matter what. That’s what friends are for after all, right?” She nodded “Yep, that’s what friends do.” She agreed, grinning sweetly. “I guess I’ll get going, see you, Merchant.” She turned around, running off toward the place where her father picked her up. He pulled his mask back down, going into the amusement park. He walked into his room, flopping onto his bed. “…She’s my best friend.” He realized, lazily pulling his mask off.

“… I have a best friend.”

Zacharie was about nine. He was a sweet, like his, passed away, mother. He was timid, but very intelligent when it came to math, but he was kept quiet about this fact by his father, the Toad King. He hated his father, as he was a cruel and awful parent and ruler. Long story short, Zacharie was abused by him. He didn’t see the boy as a fitting heir, with him being so kind and gentle. Zacharie didn’t understand for a long time, of course, as he had been abused since he was only six years old. But eventually, he decided he had enough of it. He took up his belongings in a small backpack, and disappeared into the night.

He didn’t really know where he was going to go, so he just walked until he found a soon-to-be-opened amusement park. “… I’m sure they wouldn’t mind.” He thought, slipping through the gate. He found a small, unlocked room, it appeared to be an unused office. He then took a few items out of his back, and with them he made a bed for himself. He didn’t realize how tired he was until he laid down, as he almost immediately fell asleep. In the morning, he heard the sound of footsteps outside. He panicked, he gathered his things as quietly as he could and tried to slip out of the room without being noticed, but that plan was immediately ruined by the Zone’s guardian, Japhet, seeing him. “What are you doing here, child?” The bird asked him, Zacharie stared up at him with frightened violet eyes. “I-I... Uhm... I…” He stammered, backed against a wall in fear, only resulting in him panicking more. “Now, now. Calm down. I won’t hurt you. Did you get separated from your parents? Why are you alone?” Not wanting to admit to running away, he tried to think of something that would warrant him of being alone with no mention of a cruel parent. “I’m a-an.. an orphan…” He stuttered, hiding his bluff behind a sorrowful expression. He put his head down, letting his thick, black hair fall onto his face. “Hm... well… If you’re not much trouble, and you have nowhere to go, I suppose you could stay here for a while...” He looked up at the bird, his eyes gleaming “You would do that? Really? I-I promise I won’t be troublesome, I can help in the park if you want, I-“ “Your offers are kind,” Japhet interrupted, “but you don’t have to work to earn my favor. I can tell you just need a home to stay in for the time being.” Japhet offered, Zacharie nodded vigorously. He gave a small smile, “I promise I won’t be any trouble, sir. I’ll stay out of the way of your work.” “You can stay in that room over there, though you seemed to be a step ahead of me.” He opened his wing to gesture to the room the child had come from. “Yes sir, I’ll- I’ll go stay in there.” He nodded, wandering back into the room.

About a year later, he had proved to make himself useful to the park. He managed to make small trinkets to sell at a small booth Japhet let him run to make some money. But since today wasn’t very busy, he decided to take a break and just walk around the park for a while. He was going to go to the docks, until he saw a young girl sitting at the end of a dock. A girl was a quite rare sight, and for her to just be sitting alone was an even rarer one. He started to approach her, being cautious as to not to scare her. But he ended up stopping a good distance away. He noticed her cute short-cut hair, and the way it covered her eyes. Her ghostly white skin matched her hair color, and she had the same small, black dots at the corners of her mouth. He didn’t understand why, but he felt a little bit nervous. He shook his head, forcing himself to move forward. He sat down next to the girl, giving her a kind smile, “Hey.” The girl looked at him, showing a huge, friendly smile “Hi! What’s your name?” She asked eagerly, pulling her feet up underneath her. “I’m Zacharie, what’s yours?” He mirrored her motion, starting to take a great interest in the female’s joyful personality. “I’m Sugar! Or Sucre, if you prefer. Nice to meet you, Zach~!” She giggled happily “What’re you doing her alone? Shouldn’t you be with someone?” he asked, a bit of concern leaking into his voice. “Oh, my papa let me go wherever I wanted today! I already went on the pedalo ride and did the balloon game thing. And I got to go the library, too!” she grinned, giggling once more. He couldn’t help but chuckle at Sugar’s excitement. “Sounds like you had fun, huh?” She nodded, “Mhm! But I’ve run out of things I can think of. To do, I mean. No one here is really all that fun, they’re all shy and don’t like doing a lot of stuff with me… Do you know any fun stuff to do?” She asked, looking up at him. “Well, I mean… I can take you to the back where they don’t usually let people. I mean, I do live here, after all.” She gasped, “You can just do that?! That’s so cool!” She jumped to her feet, bouncing excitedly. He stood up, opening his mouth to speak, but before he could even say anything, she grabbed his hand and drug him along. Wherever she wanted to go, she wanted to go now.

After a couple of hours of just exploring the hidden places of the park, they had finally come back to the dock, tired, but happy. “That was so much fun, Zacharie!” She beamed, laughing slightly. “No problem, Sucre. It was my pleasure.” He charmed, looking over the plastic, watching as the warm orange-pink light of the sun give the liquid a dazzling color. His small wings emerged from his back, resting them on his shoulders. “You have wings?” She questioned, touching the soft feathers. “My mother was supposedly an angel, at least that’s what I was told. But all I really know is that I have wings that can’t fly with just yet. But I read that when I’m older I’ll be able to.” He explained. There was silence for a moment, Sugar just stared at her feet, “Do you think… maybe when you can fly, we can go the top of the library? I’ve always wanted to go there, but no one ever lets me.” She asked shyly, looking up at the taller child. His expression was blank for a second, until he broke into a smile. “Of course, Sucre! That’s an easy favor for a friend.” When he had finished the sentence, he thought for a second. “I’ve never really had a friend.. This is nice… She’s nice. I’m lucky for meeting her.” He thought happily, “Oh- It’s getting really late! I need to go home!” Sugar stated urgently, Zacharie turned to her “You need me to help you? I know my way around Zone 2 really well, so-“ “I don’t live around here, I live in Zone 3. My papa works there, and he’s really the only one who can go in between the Zones so easy.” She interrupted, “But thanks for the offer, I had a wonderful time hanging out with you, though~!” She smiled warmly at him, wrapping her arms around him to give him a tight embrace for just a few seconds. She pulled back and started to run off, “I’ll try to come back as soon as I can! I loved meeting you, Zacharie~!” She called as she ran, waving vigorously. “Same for you, Sucre! See you later!” He called back, waving. When she was out of sight, he went off into his room, when he entered he fell onto his small bed, letting out a contented sigh. “… Wow.” It was really the only thing he could think to say, “This is turning out so, so much better than I first thought.” He mumbled to himself. “Just… Wow. And Sucre, of all people I’ve met.. she’s just so… I don’t know.” He mumbled, sighing once more.

“What a gal.”

I feel like Zacharie has some cheap little room in one of his shops. and all that's in there is a couch, some extra furniture, a keyboard for some reason, and a pin-up board that just has a bunch of pictures of Sucre that says 'Do it for her'
